Another successful Rock for People Festival! The 18th RfP Festival came to a close last week. This year’s festival was a safe, clean, well laid-out event with a huge amount for all in attendance to see and do. Rfp 2013 saw an eclectic line-up, drawing bands from as far as Japan and the US. As with previous years, The atmosphere at RfP was second-to-none. People of all ages, backgrounds and nationalities came together under the Hradec Králové summer sun to enjoy great music from some of the most established names in rock music. A truly peaceful and calm atmosphere with like-minded people enjoying the setting and music!

The festival has been heralded as a success with more than 30,000 visitors passing through the Festival Park gates to enjoy the good weather, good food, and good music on offer. This year saw record ticket sales according to the RfP team. New technologies used at this year’s rock-fest served to improve so many of the attendees’ experience. The festival’s mobile application boasted 8,000 users, all getting the correct, up-to-the minute, essential information direct to their phones. Karel Gott’s performance on the Staropramen Stage enjoyed thousands of online viewers thanks to the live streaming technology employed by RfP 2013. Technology working at it’s best I’d say.

Festival Director: Michal Thomes expressed his feeling about last week’s event saying: “Each visitor deserves our thanks and appreciation for the great atmosphere at dozens of concerts and spontaneous events and parties.” A statement I have to agree with, despite having clearly been well-planned months and months in advance, RfP retains a dynamic quality that so many other festivals lack. While walking around the site it’s possible to bump into (sometimes literally!) your favorite artist. That could be a member of the up-and-coming freshman class or rock royalty. The relaxed atmosphere meant that many performers were happy to soak up the great vibes, shoulder-to-shoulder with their fans.

The weather held out for the most part as the 30,000 festival go-ers circulated with ease around the regularly cleaned site. A plethora of food & drink was on offer, with  mainstream fast-food giants serving alongside independent  vendors. By the end of Rock for People 2013 experience I felt physically exhausted but absolutely enthused with lots of new found friends from around Europe and the world. A great festival with a great feel. I’m looking forward to seeing what the RfP team can come up with for Rock for People 2014!
