Happy 5th Birthday,
Expats.cz!

Serving the international community since 2001, Expats.cz is now officially five years old. To celebrate the event, an elaborate birthday party was thrown on the 18th of October at the grand Česká spořitelna building at Rytířská 29, Prague 1. Sponsors of the event included Česká spořitelna, Sony, SkyDigital.cz, European Reality, MyClinic, Orco Property Group, and Star Capital Finance, with service sponsors Zátiší Group, Annie’s Tulip, and Staropramen.

Česká spořitelna provided the beautiful location, which was filled with over 300 clients and friends of Expats.cz. Catering was by Zátiší, with beer from Staropramen and flowers from Annie’s Tulip . Sony provided three widescreen plasma TVs for the event, while World Class Fitness provided three hostesses. A large raffle was held for all those attending, with prizes donated by generous sponsors including Hotel Nautilus, Hilton Prague, SkyDigital.cz, Kampa Group, World Class Fitness, Pravda Group, and Zátiší Group. Wonderful music was provided by Shahab Tolouie and Santy y su Son de Cuba.

The party celebrated not only the 5th anniversary of Expats.cz, but also the official launch of the new annual print publication, the Expats.cz Survival Guide and Business Directory, a free guidebook that offers completely objective advice for those living in or relocating to Prague and the Czech Republic. Also being celebrated was the pre-launch of the new business & entrepreneurial network IBN (International Business Network of the Czech Republic), which promises to strengthen bonds between the international and local business communities through seminars, social networking, and more.

Martin Howlings, founder and director of Expats.cz, marked the event as “an evening of giving back,” adding “it’s my way of saying ‘thank you’ to all of our friends, clients, and sponsors, for supporting us over the the last five years.”

What started off as a small forum community has now become one of the largest English-language resources for the international community living in the Czech Republic. Expats.cz now offers an extensive business directory featuring more than 5,000 companies, a large article database with comprehensive info for living in Prague and the Czech Republic, a detailed events system, a large forum community always willing to share tips and advice (along with an occasional bit of fun), and much more. With more in store for the future…

Expats.cz is proud to be working with the international community, the international schools and other organizations, and providing much needed information to the expatriate community living in the Czech Republic.

We couldn’t have done it without those who support us. A huge thank you to all from your friends at Expats.cz!
