🎸Mark the invasion anniversary with music

Prague will host the protest concert "Noise for Ukraine" on Monday, Feb. 24, outside the Russian Embassy to mark three years of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Organized by United Islands and Metronome Prague, the event will feature performances by Ukrainian musicians Nazar Ivanyshyn and Igor Yeromichev, alongside Czech bands like Už jsme doma and Zooblasters. The concert will include speeches and messages of solidarity, showcasing continued opposition to Russia's aggression and support for Ukraine's sovereignty. See the full line-up here.

🎞️ Japanese film and film shorts screening in Prague

This week, two film festivals kick off in Prague: Eiga-Sai (Feb. 24–Mar. 2), which celebrates contemporary Japanese cinema with screenings in original language and an array of cultural events, and the Pragueshorts Film Festival (Feb. 26–Mar. 2), showcasing short films, documentaries, and animations from Czech and international filmmakers. Both festivals will be held at various cinemas across the city, with Pragueshorts also offering online screenings via the KVIFF platform.

🚋 Prague transports returns to standard time tables

Prague's public transport system will return to its regular schedule starting Monday, Feb. 24, after operating under reduced service since January 6. Metro, tram, and bus intervals will be shortened to pre-Christmas frequencies, with key tram lines running every four to eight minutes during peak hours. Additionally, minor adjustments will be made to bus routes 106, 122, 139, 150, 196, and 197, and an early-morning service will be added to nightline 915. You can monitor delays here.

🍩 Eat your way through Fat Thursday

Fat Thursday, celebrated on Feb. 27 this year, marks the start of the pre-Lenten fast with indulgence in food and drink. The day is associated with sweet, savory, and sinful dishes such as koblihy (jelly donuts) and a classic spread made of lard. Throughout Prague, may restaurants will offer larger portions at standard prices, meaty appetizers, double shots, and indulgent desserts. See a list of participating eateries here.

🪄See something 'Specatulare'

The Spectaculare Festival will kick off on Friday, Feb. 28 at SaSaZU with Icelandic duo Kiasmos embodying the gentle beauty and raw power of the Icelandic landscape, translating the fragility of classical music into timeless dance beats. Joining Kiasmos is the charismatic synthesizer and drum machine enthusiast, Natascha Polké, who will perform as the evening's support act. The festival runs through March and features films, light installations, and performances.
