The Prague summer heat shows no signs of letting up, with daily highs in the mid-30s leaving many of the city’s denizens seeking some relief.

The usual suspects like A/C-enabled cinemas and shopping centers can provide some brief respite, but one Prague business tops them all with the lowest temperature around.

Like, really low. Try -7 °C.

Yes, the one Prague bar that requires an jacket, hat and gloves during the summer heatwave is Ice Pub Prague, a completely ice-encased venue in the center of the Czech capital, right around the corner from Charles Bridge.

Located inside of Karlovy Lázně, which by night is one of Prague’s most popular nightclubs among the tourist crowds, the venue boasts ice walls, ice tables, ice chairs, ice sculptures, an ice bar and even your own glass made of ice to enjoy a refreshingly ice-cold cocktail.

Just make sure to drink it before it freezes over.

Upon entry to the ice bar, each visitor is given an isothermal jacket, hat, and gloves to stay warm, which may seem ironic given the current temperatures in Prague. Each entrance is sold in 30-minute blocks, though after half an hour in below-freezing temperatures you’ll probably be happy to get back out to the Prague sun.

While the Ice Pub Prague experience is primarily targeted to foreigners, locals should also appreciate the unique opportunity to chill out as Prague heats up to uncomfortable highs.

Entry to the bar during the day (from 12:00 – 21:00) runs 200 CZK, which includes a cocktail of your choice.

At night (21:00 – 05:00), admission to Ice Pub Prague dips to 150 CZK for a cocktail, but because the venue is located inside of tourist nightclub mecca Karlovy Lázně, you’ll also need to pay the club’s entry to get inside (around 200 CZK last time we checked). A combo entry to the club and Ice Pub can be reserved online for 300 CZK.
