So it is finally the weekend! You´ve enjoyed a well-deserved lie-in but have missed breakfasthowever it is now the perfect time for brunch. With the working week behind you, it is time to chill out, catch up with friends, and perhaps get over the night before.

If you want a casual and relaxed atmosphere, here are a few places which should be a perfect way to ease yourself into the day:

Fraktal (Šmeralova 1 Prague 7, www.fraktalbar.cz ) has a weekend brunch from 11am to 3:30pm. Known for its Breakfast Enchilada, it has a large brunch menu that ranges from 90CZK for a corn muffin and eggs to 175CZK for the Breakfast Burger. Orange Bar (Hastalská 15 Prague 1, www.orangebar.cz ) serves breakfast daily from 10am-12pm. With five breakfast options all under 100CZK and including coffee or tea, it is the perfect place to go to for a breakfast that won´t break the bank.

Bohemia Bagel (www.bohemiabagel.cz) has three Prague locations; Holešovice, Malá Strana and Old Town. Breakfasts here range from 25CZK for a bagel and butter to 179CZK for what is known as the Full Monty; two fried eggs, American bacon, sausages, baked beans, fried tomatoes, mushrooms and a mini bagel. If you have kids, the Bohemia Bagel in Old Town has a children´s corner to distract them while you wake up.

If you are looking for somewhere to escape the modern world, there is Café Louvre (Národní 22 Prague 1, www.cafelouvre.cz/en). With its Art Nouveau appearance and central location, it is fairly busy on the weekends. Breakfast starts at 9am on the weekends, 8am on weekdays. The prices are reasonable and it is possible to get something small or a complete meal which includes juice.

For a cozier atmosphere with moderate prices try Radost (Bělehradská 234/120 Prague 2, www.radostfx.cz). It has a weekend brunch that ends at 3pm. There is a large vegetarian menu, a few vegan options and some salmon options for any die-hard carnivores.

The Globe (Pštrossova 6 Prague 1, www.globebookstore.cz) has a selection of English newspapers available. Their weekend brunch runs from 9am to 3pm, and includes a large selection of meals that range up to 200CZK.  

On the other side of the Vltava, there is Café Savoy (Vítězná 5 Prague 5, www.ambi.cz) which offers breakfast all day. It has a large menu available, with several full breakfast options that include drinks. The full breakfast options range from 145CZK for the continental breakfast to 385CZK for the French breakfast. Café Déjà vu (Olbrachtova 2006/9, Prague 4, www.deja-vu.cz/) also has a large brunch menu where you can order something small, or a complete breakfast. Prices range from 39CZK for a slice of marble cake, to 198CZK for a traditional English breakfast. For the health conscious there is also a Fit breakfast.

Vermeer Restaurant (U vodárny 2 Vinohrady, www.vermeerrestaurant.cz) serves a weekend brunch from 9am to 5pm. On the menu there are many favorite breakfast dishes like Eggs Benedict, French toast and Belgian waffles. Their English breakfast is 195CZK and the American version is 165CZK. For the really hungry order either the Vermeer breakfast I or II. And, for the truly famished, try the Sunday brunch at Universal (V jirchářích 6, Prague 1 www.universalrestaurant.cz). It is an all-you-can-eat buffet which starts at 11am and finishes at 2pm. Priced at 235CZK for adults and 80CZK for kids aged 7-12, it includes roasted meats, salads, pancakes, bread etc. If you want to add coffee/tea/hot chocolate it will cost 265CZK per adult.

For those who really want to treat themselves to a decadent weekend brunch there are several options. The Bellevue (Smetanovo nábř. 18 Prague 1, www.bellevuerestaurant.cz) offers a Sunday brunch which starts at 11am and end at 3pm. Priced at 990CZK per adult, 490CZK for kids aged 7-12, it is a four course meal with kids receiving a different meal. There is a complimentary glass of champagne and unlimited soft drinks.

Zlata Praha Restaurant (Nám. Curieových 43/5, www.zlatapraharestaurant.cz) is in the Hotel InterContinental and offers a Sunday brunch buffet style from 11am to 3pm. Also priced at 990CZK per person, it includes a welcome drink and soft drinks. For an additional 490CZK per person you can keep the champagne flowing throughout your entire meal. Kids aged 5-12 are half price and kids under 4 are free. There is also a children´s corner to keep them entertained, with a nanny to look after them so you can relax and enjoy your meal.

At the Radisson SAS (Štěpánská 40 Prague 1, www.prague.radissonsas.com) there is a Sunday brunch accompanied by live jazz music. Starting at noon, the buffet lasts until 3:30pm and includes one glass of sparkling wine, plus wine, beer, a non-alcoholic beverage, coffee or tea. It costs 1099CZK per adult, with children aged 6-12 half price and children under 6 free. The Marriot (V Celnici 8 Prague 1, click for web) offers a Sunday brunch priced at 895CZK per person. Also buffet style, it starts at noon and runs until 3pm.
