Call for volunteers - explosion of silence

explosion of silence
take part in a silent chorus in the middle of the city of prague
take part in a living social sculpture
take part in a silent choreography
take part in an oral history creation
take part in an intimate monumental city intervention
give your voice to a multi-narration of pragues society today

the work with the first group of participants is scheduled from the begining of april.
the first meeting is on the 6th and 7th april in elemenmtery school (základní škola) nám. curieových 2, prague 1).

“silence. silence is an expression of something else. silence is tension, expectation, something charging up. in silence speaks everything also the stillness. bodies, attitudes, expectations. the silence is never still, but is explosive and charged. the silence is a taking back, an act of refusal within public space, which cries for attention with pictures, markings values.
explosion of silence. the charging and discharging of a mute choir that takes over space, writes space, claims space.  then a whispering explosion, a multiplication of narratives of the intimate spaces of many,  500 or more at the same time. whispering individuals out of a sea of silence. memory, archive, and present at the same time.” claudia bosse,  jan.2011

claudia bosse is the artistic director of the performance group theatercombinat based in vienna. her works, marked by spectacular and radically diversified approaches to performance and theatre, include spatial choreographies, hybrid theater works in open-plan spaces, choral speech choreographies, theater projects involving various segments of the public, urban interventions, installations and discourses.
