Famous Czech chef, television personality, and restaurateur Zdeněk Pohlreich has finally opened his latest, the highly anticipated, clumsily named Next Door by Imperial, so-called for its proximity to the Art Deco Café Imperial of which Pohlreich took the helm in 2007.
Having recently shuttered a restaurant in Switzerland as well as sushi venture Yamamoto in Vinohrady, the new establishment bolsters the chef’s somewhat shrinking portfolio of eateries (all part of a revamped business plan he recently told E15).
The restaurant is located in a newly renovated historic space that is part of the Cosmopolitan Hotel and purports to offer quicker service in a more relaxed bistro-style atmosphere; possibly an alternative to the tourist-frequented Imperial.
The seasonal menu is heavy on game and fish dishes (roulade of guinea-fowl with creamy polenta, Zurich-style veal leg with spaetzle) and features chef specilaities (Chilean sea bass) and Czech classics (veal schnitzel and mashed potatoes).
Pohlreich is also the owner of Italian restaurant Divinis near Old Town Square.
