Subscribing to various useful -- and completely useless -- things has become a pretty big trend in recent years. The concept? Receive a monthly package of curated goodies, everything from food, books, houseplants or wine, that you unbox to reveal the surprise contents inside. 

The trend has gotten so big in recent years that numerous sites dedicated to these services have even sprung up in the Czech Republic: Predplatit.cz lists a wealth of Czech-based boxes that will arrive at your doorstop monthly while My Subscription Addiction has a number of subscription services that ship worldwide.

As we face an autumn of stay-at-home fun, here's a look at what can you get delivered to your doorstep in the Czech Republic (turns out socks and tea are local favorites) and a few tips for international boxes that'll put a smile on your face:

BOOKS

Here in the Czech Republic Bookworm MYSTERY BOOX sends out monthly boxes of secondhand mystery books (there is an option to include English books in the box) for roughly 19 CZK per book.

COSMETICS

The Czech version of the Lookfantastic Beauty Box, lets you subscribe for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months and features cosmetics and skincare samples from Caudalie and other top brands.

Krabička is another service with a beauty box for monthly delivery; this summer Lush (with locations in the Czech Republic) launched its subscription box stocked with 4-5 nourishing Lush Kitchen Cosmetics.

TEA/COFFEE

The Czech Republic shines in the area of tea houses and tea subscriptions boxes! The company meetea will send subscribers three teas every month, personally selected by the owner. Moravian family roaster and ceramics workshop Jizba Luhačovice has a subscription service for coffee addicts.

Sock subscriptions are also a big hit on the Czech market, in addition to the Lords of Ponožkovice, you can get a montly delivery of socks from Colorful Fusky shop and the V pair project, as well as a gift subscription from Ponožkožrout .

TOYS

Kids who are getting more screen time than usual need something to non-digital to distract. Kid-friendly Czech boxes include Little Designer Kits and Educational Games.
