Last year, NaFilm – or the National Film Museum – set out to change that with exhibition at Museum Montanelli in the center of Prague.
The exhibit, which featured interactive highlights from the past 100 years of Czech film, was a success. But it was only temporary.
Now, NaFilm is working on obtaining a permanent space to house a museum that will feature exhibits on the celebrated history of Czech film. They’ve already found the perfect location – inside the Chicago Palace on Národní třída – and work has begun on reconstruction of the interior.
On the local crowdfunding platform HitHit, NaFilm is seeking 250,000 CZK from contributors to help complete work on the location and prepare exhibitions. Corporate sponsor Vodafone will match every donation made, so NaFilm will get twice the amount of each contribution.
With five days to go, NaFilm has already reached 92% of its goal.
A wide range of rewards for donating go from daily film recommendations (at 100 CZK) to exhibition tickets, canvas bags, homemade gingerbread in the shape of movies, a sack of Christmas gifts, and much more.
