As Breaking Bad fans have long known, the Czech Republic is one of the world’s biggest producers of methamphetamine, known locally as pervetin.

There’s no shortage of cannabis being produced in the country, either; the Czech Republic has some of Europe’s most lenient marijuana laws, and usage typically features among the highest in the world

But where are all these drugs coming from? Might your neighbour be cooking up crystal meth?

Helpfully, Czech Police have release a new map detailing exactly where meth labs and cannabis farms have been busted in 2016.

Citing concern for dangerous gases being released into the atmosphere or contamination of groundwater, the map has been made available by the National Drug Headquarters (NPC) for citizens to assess risk in their localities.

“Until now, we only released country-wide information,” NPC spokesperson Jakub Frydrych told iDnes.cz. “For many people, these drug kitchens or mass-scale grow facilities appeared to be imaginary.”

The interactive map can be viewed at its own website, mapavarenapestiren.cz (Drug Farms Map):

Locations in green indicate where illegal marijuana farms or growrooms have been seized, while red areas indicate meth labs.

The darker the color, the more activity in the district. Data covers 2016.

Unsurprisingly, the Czech capital features a large number of offenses.

In Prague, three meth labs have been busted in Libeň so far this year, with one apiece in New Town, Vinohrady, Dejvice, Bubeneč, and Holešovice. Two marijuana farms have been uncovered in both Vršovice and Košíře, with one each in Smíchov, Nusle, Břevnov, and Žižkov.

What Czech location features the highest number of drug labs? That honor belongs to Ostrava, where 5 meth labs have been busted in the central district of Moravská Ostrava so far in 2016.

Moravia also features the area of the Czech Republic’s highest marijuana cultivation, with four farms uncovered in the Předměstí district of Opava.

Czech police uncover and destroy nearly 500 drug labs in the country every year.
