Czech police report fewer anti-coronavirus violations on Easter Monday than previous days

Prague, April 14 (CTK) – The Czech police filed roughly 400 minor offences linked to the protective measures against the coronavirus on Easter Monday, which was fewer than during the previous three free days, when some 600 were reported a day, Police Headquarters spokesman Ondřej Moravčík told CTK today.

From Friday to Sunday, the police registered some 50 percent more offences daily than usual. There was warm and sunny weather in the country these days, while the temperature considerably dropped on Monday.

Moravčík said the police performed roughly 12,000 to 15,000 checks every day throughout Easter.

Police officers do not register the minor offences they resolve by a reprimand and do not send to administrative proceedings.

The police reported earlier that the most common offences were gathering in larger groups, drinking of alcohol in public and not covering one’s nose and mouth.

Moravčík noted that the number of road accidents was markedly lower than normally during the Easter holidays.

On Easter Monday, the police reported roughly 100 road accidents. Last year, it was 250 for Easter Monday and more than 900 for the whole of Easter.

Today, the government should publish its decision on easing the nationwide protective measures.
