There were 352 new COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic yesterday, according to the latest information posted by the Czech Health Ministry this morning.

It’s the third straight day the country has reported more than 350 new cases; over the last seven days, more than 1,400 new cases have been reported in the Czech Republic.

The total number of COVID-19 cases reported in the Czech Republic since March now stands at 23,000, with more than 17,000 recoveries and 418 COVID-19-related deaths in that span.

That leaves 5,692 known active cases. Of those, 130 patients are currently being hospitalized, with 31 in serious condition, the highest figure over the past three months.

Prague is currently the most-affected locale in the Czech Republic, reporting about 36 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past seven days.

No other Czech district has reported more than 30 new cases per 100,000 residents in over the past week, though more than a dozen have reported more than 20 new cases, with Příbram (29.5 new cases) and Plzeň (27.5 new cases) following the Czech capital.

Znojmo, in South Moravia, is the only Czech district that has not reported any COVID-19 cases during the past week.

From this date, travelers going to the UK from the Czech Republic will need to quarantine for 14 days upon arrival.

Czech officials, however, have stated that they will negotiate with UK counterparts to change this; previously, Czech PM Andrej Babiš successfully reversed a decision by Greece to put the Czech Republic on its list of risk areas.

The Czech Health Ministry, meanwhile, announced at a press conference that it has not made any changes to it’s list of safe countries, with only Spain and Romania the current “red” risk areas.

Despite a recent rise in new COVID-19 cases in Croatia that has seen numerous states place the country on their list of risk areas (including Czech neighbor Slovakia), the Czech Republic has left the popular vacation destination green for the time being.

According to local epidemiologists, the situation is expected to worsen in the coming weeks as schools throughout the Czech Republic open on Monday.

Form Monday, face masks will be required in all public transport vehicles throughout the country as well as health and social care facilities, public offices, polling stations, and indoor events with more than 100 people.
