There were 51 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the Czech Republic yesterday, according to the latest figures provided by the Czech Health Ministry this morning.

The number of new COVID-19 cases continues to show a consistently low daily rise, following 47 new cases on Tuesday, 40 new cases on Monday, and 33 new cases on Sunday.

From the beginning of May, the daily rise in new COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic has been in the range of 30-60 new cases per day. Only once during that span has the number exceeded 100.

There were 3,499 coronavirus tests performed in the Czech Republic yesterday, slightly down from the past two days. A total of 509,314 tests have been performed to date.

There was one COVID-19-related death reported on Wednesday. A total of 333 COVID-19-related deaths have now been reported in the Czech Republic since the beginning of the outbreak in mid-March.

A total of 39 new recoveries have been reported since Wednesday morning, with 7,399 total recoveries since March.

Overall, there have been a total of 10,152 COVID-19 cases reported in the Czech Republic since the start of the epidemic. There are currently 2,430 known active cases, with 131 of those patients currently hospitalized.

Czech President Miloš Zeman announced yesterday that despite plans to the contrary, he will not take place in a June 24 parade in Moscow to celebrate the 75th anniversary end of WWII.

The decision is based on the current coronavirus situation in Russia, not recent tensions between the Czech Republic and the country. Zeman expressed regret at the decision, and has appointed Czech Ambassador to Russia Vítězslav Pivoňka to take his place.

From next Monday, June 22, further measures easing current anti-coronavirus regulations will come into effect. The number of people allowed at mass events will be increased from 500 to 1,000, and the number of people who can take part in spa procedures will be increased to 10.

From July 1, restaurants and pubs will be allowed to open from 23:00 – 6:00; currently, they must be closed during these times.

Also from July 1, Vojtěch has announced that the requirement to wear face masks at indoor locations will be removed; however, this requirement will likely remain in place in areas of higher COVID-19 incidences, which includes Prague.
