The Czech Republic reported 50 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, according to the latest data provided by the Czech Health Ministry this morning. The country reported 42 new cases on Saturday.

The number of new COVID-19 cases on both days was down considerably from two-month highs reported on Thursday and Friday, when 118 and 126 new COVID-19 cases were reported, respectively.

However, the number of tests conducted was also considerably down. There were 1,563 tests performed on Saturday, and 1,197 tests on Sunday, after more than 3,000 tests on both the preceding days. The number of tests performed, and new COVID-19 cases confirmed, is typically much lower over the weekend.

In total, there have now been 10,498 COVID-19 cases reported in the Czech Republic since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis in mid-March.

The number of COVID-19-related deaths in the Czech Republic rose to 336 over the weekend, and the total number of recoveries 7,505.

There are currently 2,657 known active COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic, 130 of which are being treated in Czech hospitals.

From today, the Czech Republic has further eased some of the last anti-coronavirus restrictions still in effect throughout the country.

Guests can now visit pools and spas throughout the Czech Republic without restrictions, as the venues will now be allowed to operate as they did before the coronavirus pandemic.

Additionally, the maximum number of guests allowed at events in the Czech Republic has been increased from 1,000 to 5,000 people.

Important note: these restrictions are still in effect in certain areas of the country with localized breakouts on COVID-19 cases, including the Karviná and Frýdek-Místek regions.

In areas of localized breakouts, however – which may include the capital city of Prague – the restrictions will remain.
