The Czech Republic reported 62 cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, according to the latest updates from the Czech Health Ministry posted this morning.

The number is higher than the daily increase reported over the weekend (34 cases on Saturday and 38 on Sunday) and on Monday (34 new cases), and the highest number since 65 new cases of COVID-19 were reported on May 24.

Still, the number falls in line with a general downward trend of new cases over the past month, with daily COVID-19 increases in the Czech Republic now rarely exceeding 100 after hitting 200-300 at the height of the crisis.

There were a total of 6,116 tests conducted on Tuesday, with a ratio of positive results to tests of 1.01%;  that’s higher than Monday’s .63%, but lower than Sunday’s 1.81%.

The total number of COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic since the outset of the coronavirus crisis in mid-March now stands at 9,374.

However, the number of current COVID-19 infections is now 2,358. The Czech Republic has reported a total of 6,693 recoveries and 323 deaths.

On Tuesday, there were 9 recoveries and 1 death reported as of this morning.

Travel may still be restricted on the side of the destination country, though many other countries throughout Europe have also announced June 15 as a date when travel without restriction will be allowed.

From Thursday, June 4, an extraordinary measure from the Czech Ministry of Health will allow for an increase in the number of visitors to zoos throughout the country based on their size.

For Prague Zoo, 14,500 people will be allowed to enter daily as opposed to the current 8,500. Zoo director Miroslav Bobek stated this this would allow for nearly all traffic, with the regular number of visitors only occasionally exceeding 14,500 on some weekends.

Throughout June, health workers, firefighters, and police can visit Prague Zoo for a symbolic fee of one crown.
