Czech Republic coronavirus updates, Nov. 12: 7,000 fewer cases than a week ago, death toll now stands at 5,570

As of Wednesday, there were 8,925 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Czech Republic, nearly 7,000 less than a week ago.

Currently in the Czech Republic, there are 147,994 active Covid-19 cases, most with mild symptoms of the disease. However, the number of deaths has increased to a total of 5,570. Currently, there are 7,890 patients in hospital recovering, of them, 1,133 are in serious condition.

The growth rate of new cases of the disease in the country has been slowing for several days. On Wednesday, the Minister of Health Jan Blatný (ANO) stated that according to data on the spread of coronavirus, the Czech Republic is probably over the breaking point, however, according to him, the number of hospitalized will remain high for some time. More than 7,000 patients with Covid-19 are currently in hospital.

About 95,000 people have been diagnosed with Covid-19 since the beginning of November in the Czech Republic. Statistical data on the confirmed infections indicate that the measures taken against the coronavirus work well, and consequently, there is no reason to tighten them and the government should prepare for a controlled loosening of restrictions, Health Minister Jan Blatny (ANO) said on Monday.

However, the number of deaths continues to rise, and since the beginning of November, more than 2,000 people have died in the Czech Republic with the coronavirus. According to the Ministry's data so far, there were 108 deaths on Wednesday, and the number of deaths is expected to rise. The number of dead with Covid-19 has started to increase significantly, especially since October, with almost two hundred people dying daily.

Since the outbreak in the Czech Republic in early March, more than 438,805 people have been infected with Covid-19, with 285,241 have recovered.

The disease is still spreading fastest in the Pelhřimov region, with 826 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the past seven days. This is followed by Havlíčkův Brod with 776 recalculated cases. The best situation is in Prague and in the district of Prague-West, where 231 are infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last week.
