There were 563 COVID-19 cases reported in the Czech Republic on Monday, according to the latest data published by the Czech Health Ministry this morning.
It’s the sixth time since the start of the epidemic that the daily rise has been more than 500 new cases, and the fifth time in the past six days.
The number of tests being conducted is also reaching new highs, exceeding 11,000 for four straight days last week and hitting 13,261 on Friday, when 508 new cases were reported. The number of tests performed on Monday will be updated later today.
There have now been 28,716 COVID-19 cases in the Czech Republic since the start of the epidemic in March, 19,855 recoveries, and 437 COVID-19-related deaths. Currently, there are 8,424 known active cases in the country.
According to health officials, most of those cases are mild, and many are completely asymptomatic.
There are currently 214 people with COVID-19 being treated in Czech hospitals, with 54 in serious condition, numbers that have roughly doubled over the past month.
Additional regulations may be taken in localities with an increased risk of COVID-19 transmission according to the Czech Health Ministry’s regional map. Currently, Prague is the only locale listed with orange medium-risk status.
Prague has reported a high of about 74 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past seven days, but another locale has surpassed this rate in recent days.
Pelhřimov has reached about 101 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents after a recent outbreak; the Vysočina region has requested military assistance to help handle the situation at a Pelhřimov senior home where 23 residents and 18 employees have tested positive for COVID-19.
Třebíč, Svitavy, Hodonín, Plzeň-South, Tábor, and Beroun have all reported more than 60 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents over the past week.
