Prague, April 6 (CTK) – Czechia had 4,591 COVID-19 cases this morning, their number rose by 115 on Sunday, which is a decline against Saturday’s 282, but the number of tested samples fell as well, and the number of deaths rose by five to 72 from Sunday evening, the Health Ministry has said.

The share of positive tests among the tested samples significantly decreased on Sunday as against the preceding days. On Saturday, 4.6 percent of the tested samples were positive, while the proportion was only 2.44 on Sunday.

A total of 4,710 samples were tested on Sunday, compared with Saturday’s 6,134.

The total number of tests has reached 85,014.

On Sunday, eight COVID-19 patients died, and another one died today. Six of the cases were seniors over 60, one was a patient in the age category of 50-59, and two were under 50.

The situation is the worst in Prague, with more than 85 patients per 100,000 inhabitants. Central Moravia’s Olomouc Region follows with 67 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The relative number is the lowest, 19 patients per 100,000 inhabitants, in South Bohemia.

A total of 391 patients stayed in hospitals on Sunday, including 84 with a severe course of the illness.

About one third of hospitalised patients have recovered or have been released for home care so far.
