Czech Republic reports 41 new COVID-19 cases Monday, fewest since March 13

Prague, April 28 (CTK) – The Czech Republic saw 41 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, which is the smallest daily increase since March 13 with 25 cases, and the total number reached 7,445, the number of recoveries 2,834 and deaths 223.

Recently, the number of newly confirmed cases has been rising by mere dozens of cases a day.

The number of people who are currently ill with COVID-19 stands at 4,388.

More than 218,000 samples have been tested in the country since mid-February.

According to the latest information, 360 people stayed in hospital on Monday, including 73 in serious condition.

The daily increases in the number of new cases have kept below 100 for six days in a row. The increase was the steepest so far on March 27 when 373 new cases appeared. In April, the highest increase was 332 on April 3.

Among the 14 regions, COVID-19 has spread in Prague the most of all, which registers 1,692 cases, or 124 per 100,000 inhabitants. This proportion is the second highest in the westernmost and smallest Karlovy Vary Region, where there are 351 cases, 119 per 100,000 inhabitants.

South Bohemia has been afflicted the least of all, with 27 per 100,000.

Prague has also seen the highest number of deaths of COVID-19 patients, 82. Moravia-Silesia follows with 26 and Karlovy Vary with 22 fatalities.

Only one patient has died in the southeast Moravian Zlin Region so far.

Health statistics experts and epidemiologists said Czechia has coped well with the epidemic so far and should now focus on a controlled return to normal life and the health sector’s restart. The government has announced the timetable of a step-by-step lifting of its package of anti-virus restrictive measures.
