Czech Republic reports total of 7,740 coronavirus cases, with 3,378 recoveries and 241 deaths

Prague, May 2 (CTK) – The Czech Republic has 7,740 confirmed coronavirus cases, 55 new on Friday when 4,192 tests were performed, while 3,378 people with COVID-19 have recovered and 241 have died so far, according to the data from the Health Ministry’s website released at 8:30 today.

The number of the recovered has risen by 19 since Friday evening and one more fatality has been reported. On Friday, four coronavirus patients died in total.

The number of tests on Friday was considerably lower than in the past days and the lowest since the beginning of the week, as Friday was a national holiday, May Day. It was less than a half of the Tuesday figure, 8,745 tests. The number of tests did not dropped under 7,000 on any other day of this week.

After three days, the share of positive cases slightly decreased on Friday – to 1.31 percent from 1.42 percent on Thursday.

On Friday, 55 tested positive for COVID-19, which was 1.31 percent of the samples. This has been the first decrease in the number of new infections after four days of its rise.

The highest number of new cases was detected on Thursday, 103, and the lowest on Monday, only 41.

The number of the hospitalised dropped by 25 to 319. At present, some 7.7 percent of the currently ill with COVID-19 are hospitalised.

The highest coronavirus incidence is still in the capital of Prague, 1,735 cases, along with the highest number per 100,000 inhabitants, which is now some 127.

Prague has also the highest number of COVID-19-related deaths, 83. A similar incidence per population is in the Karlovy Vary Region with 125 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
