Prague, Nov 4 (CTK) - Czech Foreign Minister Tomáš Petříček said today that he believes the positive trend of talks at the highest levels between U.S. and Czech representatives will continue irrespective of the result of the U.S. Presidential elections.

Petříček (Social Democrats, CSSD) said these talks proved that there were "very intensive allied relations between the two countries."

U.S. President Donald Trump is defending his post against his Democratic rival, Joe Biden. It appears that the victory for one of them will be very narrow.

Petříček said it is not surprising that the final result of the election may be more narrow than polls before the election indicated.

Chamber of Deputies foreign affairs committee deputy head Jan Lipavský (Pirates) told CTK that it is clear that a Democratic dream of a crushing defeat of Trump will not come true.

Court disputes related to the election can be expected in addition to a narrow victory, Lipavský added.

Freedom and Direct Democracy (anti-EU opposition SPD) leader Tomio Okamura said he hoped Trump would defend his post. He said Biden’s victory would be a major threat to freedom, democracy and peace in the world as it would be the victory of those seeking a global world order.

Biden also means support for migration and dictatorship of minorities, Okamura said on Twitter.

Civic Democrats (right-wing opposition ODS) MP Jan Skopeček said on a social networking site that Trump will be defend capitalism more than Biden, he will not start military interventions with an uncertain end, and has successes in foreign affairs. Moreover, Trump does not support radical leftist tendencies and knows where the Czech Republic is on the world map, Skopeček said.

Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) chairman Marian Jurečka told CTK he would like Biden to win because it would be better for both the Czech Republic and Europe.

"He has the potential to unite a divided American society, to reduce the social gap between people, reform spheres like education and health care and strengthen environmental protection," Jurečka said.
