For this year´s charity project, Expats.cz has decided to work with Asociace náhradních rodin, a non-profit organization whose aim is to support families with adopted or foster children. Every year we have done something a little different; the first year we did a project , we worked with the Roma community by getting a list of children´s wishes, then Expats.cz members chose a child and got that gift for them. Gifts were distributed during a party near the projects in Kladno, where they lived. The following year we set up a collection for clothing, bedding, toys and even diapers – everything that an orphanage in Belarus was in need of. This year, we are working closer to home, supporting this organization which is in a position to reach out to both neglected children and the families who have opened their hearts to them.

Foster families welcome children from broken homes and institutions and the transition is never easy. The Association for Adoptive and Foster Families offers all manner of assistance for the families involved, but most importantly they offer a place where families can meet and spend time together, sharing experiences or just playing games. To this end, these community centers need activities that suitable for children big and small, as well as adults. The association agreed to put together a wish list, and our hope is to fulfill these wishes for Christmas. Please join us in spreading cheer to these families who are re-knitting the fabric of society one child at a time.

This list comprises the collective wish lists of all the regional community centers. If you would like to donate a gift, simple send an email to veronika@expats.czstate your name and the item you will give. We will then remove it from the wish list, and respond to you with the details of where and when to drop the gift off. Please note that the last day when you can bring the gift is 22nd December. After the holidays we will share photos and a write up. Moreover, all participants sponsoring a gift will be entered into a raffle draw and can win a 2 night stay for 4 persons donated by Bohemiae Rosa Organic Farm and Hotel.

Also, Jelly Belly recently decided to support our aim and donate 450 snackpacks of Jelly Belly Beans to all the kids and also one 600g Gift Box, featuring all 50 Original Flavors, to one lucky Expats.cz user – see our Facebook page for details.
