Galerie Rudolfinum Celebrates 100th Exhibit with Free Admission

The first week of September sees the opening of Krištof Kintera: Nervous Trees at Galerie Rudolfinum, and while the show, like many others featured at Prague’s premier modern art space, promises socially engaged installations and sculpture, this exhibit has one important difference: it’s free.

Since its inception in 1994, the gallery on Prague’s Alšovo nábřeží has shown world-class artists, from Andy Warhol and Gregory Crewdson to David LaChapelle. Recently it saw the reopening of its Café Rudolfinum after a long renovation and in 2016 the debut of its Artpark interactive gallery.

To celebrate its 100th exhibition in the gallery space connected to Dvořák Hall, Galerie Rudolfinum will reward supporters and gallery goers with a free exhibition (admission is being covered by an endowment from AVAST).

The large-scale solo exhibition of the renowned Czech sculptor summarizes the last five years of Kintera’s creative work, introducing two dozen sculptures, installations, and interactive objects. The exhibit runs from September 7-November 26.

Kintera is one of the co-creators of the Entropa sculpture, which was displayed in Brussels as part of the Czech Republic’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2009.

In 2013 his 14-metre high Bike to Heaven monument, which commemorates all cyclists killed on the streets of Prague, was unveiled in Holešovice.
