On June the 22nd, the Prague Lucerna Hall will host an hourlasting funky mega show, conducted by the founder and spiritual father of funk, Goerge Clinton alias Dr. Funkenstein.

In 2005 George Clinton and his Parliament/Funkadelic brought 15 thousand dancing fans into ecstasy at the Ostarava Festival. At last we will have a chance to enjoy them in Prague!

George Clinton – the contemporary of John Lennon and Jimi Hendrix, was born in North Carolina, grew up in New Jersey and later in Florida. At the beginning of his musical career he wrote song for the first afro-american label Motown. Still a teenager he formed his first band, the Parliaments, later re-named Parliement. At the same time he founded a more funk oriented band, the Funkadelic, with whom he recorded his first hits such as I Wanna Testify.

Alongside James Brown, George Clinton belongs to the founders of funk and hip-hop. Both of them are the most sampled artists of all time, we find a large number of George Clinton´s hits in the produce of artists generations younger.

George Clinton fused the simple funky sound with  R&B and psychadelic motives, thus creating his inimitable style, P-Funk, which is widely acclaimed all over the world.

Since the 1980´s George Clinton appears both with his bands Parliament and Funkadelic and also as a solo artist, he also produces music not only of his funk colegues, but other bands as well, such as Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In the 1990´s George Clinton worked on join projects with such starts as the rock Primal Scream or the hip-hopers Tupac Shakur, OutKast, Wu-Tang Clan and many others. He commented his work: „Funk is the DNA of hip-hop and rap.“

George Clinton hit the world charts with songs such as Give up the Funk, Loopzilla and Atomic Dog. In 1997 George clinton was introduced to rock and roll hall of fame in Cleaveland. In 2002 Parliament/Funkaldelic were pronounced the sixth best band of all time by the american Spin magazine.
In Prague, George Clinton will present his hourlasting crazy funk show, featuring members of both his bands, Parliaments and Funkadelic. The public is in for a real mega-party with more than twenty musicians on show – and there won´t be only the funk grandfathers there. George Clinton´s concerts are more like funky mass, where the fans dance through the night, hypnotized by the rhytm and the fantastic colourfull spectacular show full of bright wigs, dreadlock hair-do´s and psychadelic costumes.
