Update: Police have found the eight-year-old girl who went missing in the Czech mountains

Capartice (Domažlice) West Bohemia, Oct 12 (ČTK) - Despite an all-night search effort, Czech rescuers are still looking for an eight-year-old German girl, who went missing in the Čerchov mountain area of West Bohemia near the German border on Sunday afternoon, Czech police spokeswoman Dagmar Brožová told journalists today.

The police are requesting help from anyone who was in the Čerchov (Schwarzkopf in German) mountain vicinity of the Český les (Oberpfalzer Wald in German) and surrounding areas between 15:00 and 19:00 on Sunday.

The girl was reported to have gone missing in the area at that time, Brožová said.

The search continues and if the weather allows police will ask request helicopter assistance, she added.

"We had a coordination meeting between our commander and the German coordinator to whom he passed information," Brožová said.

The search in the woodland terrain will continue all day and night, she added.

The German radio station Bayerischer Rundfunk said a police unit from the Bavarian Alps would send assistance. Its members have special training for searching inmountain terrain.

Čerchov is situated around two kilometers from the border with Germany.

At first, some 200 people took part in the search with search teams rotating several times.

Police rescue teams, police academy students, and firefighters are also searching for the child in addition to Czech and German dog handlers with specially trained search-and-rescue dogs.

The girl who was on a hike with her parents, a younger brother, and a cousin on Sunday when she went missing was last seen wearing a blue jacket, jeans, and red shoes. She measures 120 to 130 centimeters and has blond hair. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 158.
