Shared Cities: Creative Momentum is a European cultural platform with a wide-reaching ambition to show urban citizens from Prague and beyond how their participation and cooperation is “essential for creating a pleasant and valuable urban environment,” says landscape architect and project participant Martin Barry.

The initiative kicked off this year; from 2016 to 2020 more than 150 activities will explore aspects of sharing and urban design in major European cities (outside of the Czech capital, events will take place in Belgrade, Berlin, Bratislava, Budapest, Katowice, Warsaw) with artist residencies, films, publications, and more.

Coming soon to a city near you, look for planning games that challenge architects and citizens to design their ideal cities and street furniture hackathons where artists and the public will devise radical new forms of street furniture.

Eleven organizations from seven European cities have pledged to create a juncture where architecture, art, urbanism, and the sharing economy meet and transform urban spaces.

In the Czech Republic, those organizations include Berry’s Prague-based organization reSite, and the Goethe-Institut Prag which this coming Thursday will host a presentation and discussion on new formats in publishing and architecture.

Experts from Germany and the Netherlands will discuss with Czech media, bloggers, and the general public how to innovatively communicate with words, images, and multimedia.

The presentation, Publishing 2.0, will be held in English and will take place in Foyer² a newly opened multi-purpose lounge and cultural space on the second floor of the historic Art Nouveau Goethe-Institut building on Masarykovo nábřeží.

Designed by Berlin architectural firm ifau in cooperation with Czech partners Master & Master, it is said to have an exceptional view of Prague Castle.

An opening party will follow the panel which starts at 18:30. Space is limited, make your reservation here. Entry is free.
