From now through mid September, well-known Czech and Slovak artists are auctioning their tattoo designs, paintings, photographs, and illustrations in an effort to save the rainforests.
Proceeds from the Forest.ink event, held at Chemistry Gallery on September 17, will be used toward the construction of an educational center and botanical garden in an endangered Ecuadorian rainforest.
The project was launched by Roman Kollar, a Czech living in Ecuador, and local tattoo artist Petra Hlaváčková in an effort to educate the public about the importance and fragility of rainforest ecosystems.
“Be it a polluted river in your city or the destruction of the rainforest in Ecuador these things concern all of us. Each of us can contribute to change,” says Hlaváčková.
Tattoo artists Ondrash, Lucie Liškova, Jan Mraz, and many more have created original designs inspired by the South American jungle. Fans can bid on them on-line until September 10; winners will get their designs inked on during the event.
Attendees can also support the project by buying original art.
