WATCH: Green Party Responds to Zeman Candidacy with Light Show

Czech president Miloš Zeman announced from Prague Castle Thursday evening that he would seek a second term in office. Shortly thereafter, the Czech Green Party (Strana zelených), headed by Matěj Stropnický, sent a bold response. 

A series of light projections were beamed onto the wall of the Prague Castle complex in an apparent statement on the controversial president’s politics.

The bright green message read “For love, for truth, for Tibet, for women, in a year again?” and was followed by its campaign slogan #TimesAreChanging (#CasySeMeni).

The party published this video of the event on its Facebook page today along with the text:

“Yesterday’s green glow above Prague. We do not want the values of solidarity and human rights to vanish under the opulent candidacy declaration, where court-ruled liar Miloš Zeman tries to devalue them. #GreenParty #TimesAreChanging”

And yet a flash poll conducted by research Agency Phoenix asked 1,021 respondents if the Czech presidential elections were held now, not in 2018, who they would cast a vote for. Zeman was the candidate of choice for 35 percent of voters.

Analysts says Zeman has no real competition, though the poll saw businessman and writer Michal Horacek receive the second largest percentage of voter approval (11%). Of his political opponent Horacek has been quoted as saying: “we can do better.”
