Prague’s Honest Guide, a popular YouTube channel by Honza Mikulka and Janek Rubeš, has made a name for itself by saving foreign tourists coming to the Czech capital from shops that overcharge foreigners, ripoff exchange offices, and other well-known scams in the city center.
This week, Honest Guide checks in with Prague pubs in the center of Prague that no local would dare to enter – until now, when they’ve discounted their typically tourist-catered beer prices by 50% or more.
That’s right: for what is likely to be a limited time only, you can sit outside at Prague’s Old Town Square, and pay just 40-50 crowns for a beer that would have previously cost you 100+.
While you’re still likely to find cheaper pints at other locations across the city, now makes for a great time for Prague locals to take in the sights and sounds of a center that is usually flooded with tourists – and grab a reasonably-priced beer, to boot.
These aren’t the only central Prague locations to offer discounts during the tourist-less post-coronavirus days, and it isn’t only beer being discounted: food, drink, and other items can be found at reduced prices, as well.
This may be a once-in-a-lifetime chance for locals to experience one of the world’s most-visited cities without the usual crowds, and for much less than the usual cost.
