Actor and musician Johnny Depp will appear at a concert in Prague as a special guest of Grammy-winning guitarist Jeff Beck on July 11 for his newly added show at Forum Karlín. Tickets go on sale on June 11 over the Ticketmaster network.

Depp began appearing on stage in England with Jeff Beck at the end of May while the jury in the U.S. was still out on his high-profile defamation civil case against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp eventually won his side on all counts, with the jury awarding him $15 million, which the judge reduced to $10.35 million due to a cap on punitive damages. Heard won on one count in a countersuit and was awarded $2 million. Both sides can appeal the verdicts.

Jeff Beck and Depp released a cover version of John Lennon’s song “Isolation” in 2020 and will release a joint album in July. Depp originally wanted to be a musician and not an actor, but first found success on the screen, starting with an appearance in “A Nightmare on Elm Street” in 1984, and a lead role on TV in the police series “21 Jump Street” in 1987–90.

Depp played guitar at a concert in Prague in 2018 with his band Hollywood Vampires at the Prague Rocks one-day festival at Letiště Letňany. The band, which featured Alice Cooper on lead vocals and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry on guitar, opened for headline act Ozzy Osbourne.

Last year, Depp attended the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival to present the documentary film “Crock of Gold: A Few Rounds with Shane MacGowan,” about the former Pogues singer, and the drama “Minamata,” a drama about an American photographer who exposed the effects of mercury poisoning in Japan.

Depp was also in Prague in 2000 to film “From Hell,” based on the story of Jack the Ripper. The film, directed by the Hughes Brothers, was a financial success but earned mixed reviews.

Jeff Beck, now 77 years old, was a member of the 1960s group the Yardbirds and later led the Jeff Beck Group before embarking on a solo career. Music magazine Rolling Stone has called him one of the best guitarists of all time, and in 2015 ranked him in fifth place. He has won eight Grammy Awards, between 1985 and 2010. Four of them were for Best Instrumental Performance.
