Kylie Minogue

is truly one of the greatest performers and musicians of our time. Her rise to fame and fortune reads like a pop music fairytale. Kylie made her start from fairly humble beginnings in  the Australian TV scene. She soon became popular with the European market while playing the role of Charlene Robinson on the Australian hit soap opera Neighbours. Kylie, not one to rest on her artistic laurels, began her music career in the summer of 1987. The hit song Locomotion was part of an impromptu performance at an Australian rules football charity event with fellow cast members of the soap opera. Minogue was quickly snapped up and signed a record deal with Aussie label Mushroom Records to release the song, Locomotion, as a single. This marked the first of many hits from the up-and-coming star. Locomotion was a massive hit in Minogue’s native Australia, reaching the number one spot on the AMR singles chart and holding that position for seven weeks. The song set the record as the biggest Australian single of the decade. Its success was also seen throughout Europe and Asia, reaching number one in Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Israel, Japan, and South Africa. Not bad for a first single!

By 1988 Kylie had released her début album with a number of hit singles under her belt. Her self-titled album and the single taken from the album, I Should Be So Lucky, both reached number one in the United Kingdom’s music charts. Over the next two years, her first 13 singles reached the British top ten with relative ease. Kylie’s début film: The Delinquents (1989), saw her staring opposite Charlie Schlatter with direction from Chris Thomson. The film was received well, becoming a box office hit in both Australia and the UK.Over the years Kylie has been able to evolve and re-create both her look and sound to constantly appeal to her loyal and loving audience. From the start she had been presented as the clean living, girl next door. The approachable star, with determination coupled with an admirable work ethic. By 1992, Kylie began to project her more mature artistic side. The single Confide In Me again reached the number one spot in Australia and many other European countries. Her duet with fellow Australian musician, songwriter, author and screenwriter

Nick Cave

entitled Where the Wild Roses Grow showed the world a truly capable and credible artist. The year 2000 saw Kylie really step things up a gear with a slew of popular and successful releases. The first being Spinning Around; The dance-fueled, feel-good anthem kept the fun-loving vibe for which Kylie has become famous, but for the first time mixed it with heavy bass lines and leading dance-floor-filling synths. Her Light Years album was crowed the most eagerly anticipated release of her career to date and received Gold status even before its release in Australia! Kylie has built a bullet-proof reputation for producing and performing great music with stunning live shows.

March 2nd, 2011 sees the Queen of pop blessing Prague’s O2 Arena. I had some time with Anthony @ Fource Inc., the main consultant for the forthcoming event. French-born Anthony has had plenty of experience when it comes to delivering shows from the pop world royalty:

Black Eyed Peas

,

Beyonce

and

Leonard Cohen

have all played in Prague thanks to Anthony and his dedicated team of workers. “I first saw Kylie a few months back in Canada’”, says Anthony. “The show was amazing, so when the opportunity came up to bring her to Prague, I jumped at the chance.” Anthony mentioned that he had recently received some drawings and technical requirements from Minogue HQ for the forthcoming show. “It’s going to be pretty spectacular! Lights and a large stage show await all those in attendance!” Anthony and his team are expecting around 12,000 spectators at the exciting show. The forthcoming Kylie performance sees yet another world-class, highly-respected star taking time to perform in the Czech Republic’s capital city. Prague is fast becoming the place for stars to perform to their adoring fans, and what better venue to host the event than the city’s O2 Arena. It goes without saying that Expats.cz will be on hand to provide you with information both before and after the event. Keep your eyes peeled and you can look forward to ticket competitions for those of you wanting to attend the show. Also, we’ll be providing you guys with the usual high-quality images from the best vantage points at the night itself. This is a truly electrifying event that shouldn’t be missed. Kylie Minogue is a world class performer and star and I for one can’t wait to see her prove it live on stage in Praha! Kylie Minogue: APHRODITE – Les Folies Tour 20112. 3. 2011 20:00 O2 arena Prague
