Widely-shared images from Wednesday's storming of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. included photographs of congress staffers barricading themselves in offices, a man kicking back with his feet on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's desk, and another stealing the House podium.

But another image had a special Czech connection.

In video of the event taken from the main building of U.S. Congress, a bust of former Czech President Václav Havel can be glimpsed - wearing a Trump-brand "Make America Great Again" baseball cap.

"Someone put a MAGA hat on the Havel bust in Congress last night," Prague-based BBC correspondent Rob Cameron Tweeted. "He'd appreciate the absurdity I think."

Havel's bust, designed by Czech-American sculptor Lubomír Janečka, was unveiled at the Capitol in 2014 to honor the 25th anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons performed at the event.

While the Capitol Building's National Statuary Hall Collection contains 100 statues of iconic figures from the United States, Havel is just one of four foreign dignitaries to have a bust at the location, joining Winston Churchill, Raoul Wallenberg, and Lajos Kossuth.

"The United States and the Czech Republic share values such as our faith in freedom and preservation of freedom and human rights," Czech Interior Minister Jan Hamáček, then-Speaker of the Czech Chamber of Deputies, said when the bust was unveiled in 2015.

"Václav Havel fought for the same things.”

Havel himself had also famously visited the the U.S. Capitol. In 1990, a speech given by Havel at the location shortly after the fall of the Iron Curtain was said to have been met by applause on 23 occassions.
