Travelers flying from Czechia will have more flight options this spring and summer, as airlines expand routes to popular holiday destinations. Prague’s Václav Havel Airport, along with regional airports in Brno, Ostrava, and Pardubice, will see increased flight frequencies and new connections as the summer flight schedule takes effect this month.

Important to note is that, with increased services and airline-versus-airline competition, more (and new) routes will help keep costs down in the coming months, ultimately helping you save money.

Extra ways to reach the Balkans

This Balkan country has long been a favorite for Czechia-based travelers to visit. Airlines are ramping up connections to Croatia; Croatia Airlines will increase flights to Dubrovnik and Split from the Czech capital, while Smartwings will also add capacity on the Split route.

Additionally, Ryanair continues to operate flights to Zadar, and after several years, Croatia Airlines is bringing back a direct link between Prague and Zagreb. This will likely tempt thousands of people who typically drive the Czechia-Croatia route to get the plane instead.

Czech travelers heading to Montenegro will benefit from a new direct flight between Prague and Podgorica, operated by Air Montenegro starting in May. This complements the existing route to Tivat and provides a convenient gateway to Montenegro’s Adriatic coast.

Servicing southern Europe

A notable addition to this year’s schedule is a direct connection between Prague and the Italian city of Trieste operated by Ryanair twice a week. This route will provide easier access to nearby seaside resorts such as Grado and Bibione, as well as destinations in Slovenia, which currently lacks a direct air connection from the Czech Republic.

Connections to Spain are also on the rise. Prague travelers can now choose between Eurowings, Ryanair, and Smartwings for flights to Malaga. Additionally, Ryanair is launching a direct Brno-Malaga route operating twice weekly. From Pardubice, flights to Alicante and Girona will be joined by a new connection to Mallorca, starting in June.

Carrier Aeroitalia in late March newly launched a service between Brno and Rome’s Fiumicino Airport, with the first flight departing last Sunday. This week has also seen the establishment of a new route will begin service, connecting Czechia's second-biggest city to the Spanish city of Malaga. Like the Rome connection, the route will operate until the end of October.

Travel from Prague to Frankfurt

A new Prague-Frankfurt route operated by airline Condor is launching, providing additional transfer options for Czech travelers. While Lufthansa already serves this route, Condor aims to attract passengers by offering competitive fares for long-haul destinations via its Frankfurt hub.

New long-haul options

While most expansions focus on short-haul destinations, a few long-haul routes are also being introduced or reinstated. Etihad Airways will begin a direct Prague-Abu Dhabi service in June, competing with existing flights to Dubai.

Meanwhile, Delta Airlines is resuming its Prague-New York (JFK) route in May, and Air Canada will restart direct flights to Toronto in June. Connections to Beijing are gradually returning but remain limited.

Poland: Increasingly attractive to fly from

In neighboring Poland, air traffic is expanding rapidly, with Ryanair and Wizz Air significantly increasing their presence.

Ryanair alone is launching 24 new routes from Polish airports this summer, including flights from Katowice to Dubrovnik, Krakow to Marrakech in Morocco, and Wroclaw to Lamezia Terme in Italy—destinations not currently served by direct flights from the Czech Republic.

With these Polish cities several hours' away by car or bus, this could be a tempting option for travelers looking for a break away from Czechia in the coming months.
