Galleries and museums have faced large declines in ticket sales due to government measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

Prague City Hall, in cooperation with Prague City Tourism (PCT), has created another project to support cultural institutions. It will provide a 50% discount on admission to nine selected cultural facilities to motivate not only Praguers to visit major Prague galleries and museums in July and August when you present a valid Lítačka public transit card. More than 13 million CZK has been set aside for support during July and August.

“This support program is intended for holders of the Lítačka card and is, therefore, a symbolic thank you not only to the people of Prague for their help and dedication in the past months when we faced the coronavirus crisis. People will be able to visit various institutions for half the entrance fee, including the popular Old Town Hall, the Prague City Gallery or the City of Prague Museum,” City Councilor Hana Třeštíková (Praha sobě), who is responsible for culture, said.

People will be able to visit the Vyšehrad National Cultural Monument, the City of Prague Museum, the Prague City Gallery, Obecní dům, Výstaviště Praha, Old Town Hall, Museum Kampa, DOX and Galerii Villa Pellé.

“The key to the selection of institutions was the focus on contributory organizations of Prague and holders of a multi-year grant in the field of fine arts, museums and exhibitions, such as Museum Kampa, DOX and the Galerii Villa Pellé,” Třeštíková said.

The main building of the City of Prague Museum at Florenc is closed for renovation, but its other locations such as House At the Golden Ring (Dům U Zlatého prstenu), with an exhibition of the history of puppets, and the Podskalská Customs House at Výton are open.

Prague City Galley also has multiple venues including the Troja Chateau, House At the Stone Bell (Dům U Kamenného zvonu), currently with photos by Antonín Kratochvíl, and the House of Photography.

Museum Kampa recently launched an exhibition of works by Alfons Mucha and Pasta Oner. DOX has a group show called Ultrasupernatural and an urban planning exhibition called Galegion: Utopian Cities, based on a decade of research.

Recently the website V praze jako doma (In Prague as at Home) was launched as part of a program of the same name to motivate domestic and foreign tourists to visit Prague. The program will run from July 1 to September 30.

It is financed by the capital city of Prague in the amount of 120 million CZK and is implemented Prague City Tourism in cooperation with the Association of Hotels and Restaurants, the Confederation of Trade and Tourism and the Chamber of Commerce.
