Bans were big in 2016: smoking, Segways, and refugees being at the center of many a stay-or-go controversy throughout the year. The Czech Republic was painted as a veritable utopia in a number of polls (most peaceful, most free) and yet was awarded with less flattering titles as well (least empathetic).
