Casual dining has come to the Czech capital in a big way in recent years with stuffy reservations-required establishments making way for communal dining tables and eateries that serve customizable versions of everything from salads to noodles.

This summer sees another win for downtown office workers and fans of relaxed dining-out in Prague–Vapiano, a fast-casual chain offering modern Italian-inspired cuisine cooked à la minute and in front of the guest, will open its first location in the Czech Republic in July.

The restaurant will be located on the premises of Prague’s Quadrio shopping centre.

“We are happy to bring another international brand to the Czech Republic, which will contribute to a greater variety of good quality food. New catering concepts attract more customers to shopping centres in their search for a broader offer of entertainment, gastronomy, and services,” said Jan Kotrbáček, Partner and Head of Cushman & Wakefield’s CEE Retail Agency team.

Since its launch in Hamburg, Germany, in 2002, the company has grown to more than 180 restaurants spread across 30 countries on five continents.

Mario C. Bauer, of Vapiano, said: “While the restaurant scene in Prague has developed significantly over the past years, we believe that Vapiano can fill a gap in the local market.”

Ther restaurant’s calling card is its Mediterranean atmosphere and menu of pasta, pizzas, salads, and antipasti, prepared fresh in each restaurant, often in a glassed-in manifattura.

Signature interior design by Italian architect and designer Matteo Thun features wooden floors, long oak tables and, bold red details. In addition, every restaurant includes a hundred-year-old olive tree and a ‘green wall’ vertical herb garden.

Vapiano is the first of six planned restaurants to open in Quadrio this summer. It will occupy over 600 square meters out of approximately 3,500 square meters of available food and beverage space.
