Expats.cz Plug&Play Party Coverage

The Expats.cz community united on Friday, March 19th for the biggest party event of its kind, ever!

‘Plug & Play´ was the theme of this party, whose purpose was to give this community a chance to meet, get connected, and have fun together.  This party was our way of saying goodbye to 2009, shrugging off a long and cold winter, and kicking this year off in a big way which brought together a community that has supported us and grown with us over the years.  
The doors opened at 9 pm, and as expected, the club gradually filled up with primarily an international mix of people from a wide-range of backgrounds (African, Asian, European, North & South American, and more).  We also saw many Czechs filling the dance floor – which reflects a growing number of young Czechs who are using our website for everyday use.  At 10pm the stage competitions began, each one involving 5 men and 5 women selected from the audience. 

Here´s a list of the competitions and prizes:

1.    True/ False quiz about the Czech Republic – With hands on heads for ‘True,´ and hands on bottoms for ‘False,´ most of the group did quite well, and we had many ties.  Each participant got a Hard Rock Café t-shirt, and the final winner won a dinner for two at the Sheraton Hotel Fri-DEX Restaurant;

2.    Lucky Passport Lottery – We selected people from the audience who met different criteria (i.e. those carrying drivers licenses from different countries, those speaking 4 languages, those who have attended Czech schools, those comfortable using the ‘Ř´, and those living here for 10 years or more).  Each participant got to pick a lucky number, 4 of which were drawn for a free 3-month Holmes Place gym membership; 

3.    Tongue Twister Competition – This time ten people stood shoulder to shoulder with elastic bands around their heads and under their noses.  The goal was to get the elastic down around your neck without using your hands, as quickly as possible.  Many tongues and laughs were involved, but there was only one winner – who won a 3 course dinner for 2 at Aria Hotel´s Coda Restaurant;

4.    Find the Hidden Adaptors – There were 6 hidden adaptors around the club, and 6 fantastic prizes for those who found them and brought them to stage.  Prizes given were from Hotel Le Palais, Kempinski Hotel, Intercontinental Hotel, Hilton Hotel, Anno Domini Restaurant, and Belle Fleurs. 

In addition to these competitions, we had a free raffle draw with 6 great prizes, including 2 airlines tickets to any Turkish Airlines destination.  We also gave away 3 prizes to anybody who RSVP´d to our party on Facebook.  First prize was two flight tickets to Switzerland, from Swiss International Air Lines.  We also had a 500 Balloon Ceiling Drop, of which 50 were marked with some more great prizes, including a Nintendo Wii, dinners for 2, massages, free drinks, t-shirts, and loads more.  
When the main DJ started around midnight, he quickly got the crowd into party mode with a great blend of old and new dance and pop classics and the dance floor remained packed until the event closed at 5am.
