Prague, June 17 (CTK) – Prague Deputy Mayor Petr Hlubucek ended in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, and the City Hall plans to send all who attended the City Council meeting on Monday for coronavirus tests, CTK has learned.

Hlubucek (STAN) confirmed his disease on Facebook. He said he had a temperature on Monday, visited his doctor, and had himself tested.

According to CTK’s information, CTK wants all participants in the City Council’s latest meeting, where Hlubucek was present together with his fellow councilors but also members of the opposition and other officials, to undergo tests on Wednesday.

Prague Mayor Zdeněk Hřib tweeted Tuesday night, “@p_hlubucek has contracted COVID-19. I wish him a speedy recovery. Everyone who attended the council must now be quarantined, so the entire city management. This would not happen if the council was online, as I suggested. Unfortunately, the coalition partners were against it.”

Hlubucek, 46, wrote that he will remain isolated, monitored, and tested as long as needed. “At the same time, all with whom I came in contact will be contacted [by hygiene authorities],” he wrote.

Several City Hall clerks have been infected with coronavirus in the past months. From mid-March, its property registration department was temporarily closed after two of its employees tested positive for coronavirus. The infection also appeared in the urban development department.

Out of Czechia’s 14 regions, Prague has seen the highest number of coronavirus cases, 2,231, since the early March epidemic outburst, including nine, confirmed on Tuesday. Prague has 176 patients per 100,000 inhabitants, the highest incidence of all regions, according to the Health Ministry’s data.

A total of 1,449 Prague patients have recovered and 92 died so far.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Czechia has reached 10,095.
