In a bizarre turn of events, a resident of Prague 14 found himself unable to go to work due to an unexpected obstacle: a ram blocking the entrance to his house. The peculiar incident unfolded on Wednesday afternoon, where a ram with imposing horns stationed itself in front of the resident's gate, steadfastly refusing to yield.

The reasons behind the ram's unexpected appearance remain a mystery, but its determination to hold its ground prompted the resident to seek assistance from police, who humorously recalled the incident on social media.

"'I won't make it to work today, boss. A ram is blocking my house.' This excuse, straight out of primary school, probably wouldn't be believed by any manager, but that's exactly the situation one caller in Prague 14 faced," writes police spokesperson Irena Seifertová.

"In the afternoon, a sturdy-hoofed animal stood in front of his gate and refused to budge. As time passed, it became increasingly clear that the individual wasn't selling pots, preaching the word of God, or fighting for the climate. To avoid a deadlock, the caller decided to report the matter to police."

"[Responding] officers surveyed the situation, evaluated it, and summoned colleagues from animal control who know the right anti-ram techniques. The animal was subsequently transported to the Trója shelter without injury."

While such incidents may seem comical, they underscore the unpredictable nature of urban life and the importance of authorities equipped to handle a diverse range of challenges. For the resident of Prague 14, it was certainly a memorable day, one where the unexpected presence of a determined ram brought a temporary halt to his daily routine.

Despite being a major metropolis, encounters with wild animals are not uncommon in Prague. For years, a herd of mouflon can been regularly seen grazing in a field outside of Thomayerova Hospital in Prague 4.

The recent nature documentary Wild Prague (Planeta Praha) spotlights the diverse and sometimes unexpected range of animal life within the Czech capital, including in the very center of the city. Wild Prague can currently be viewed with English subtitles on Netflix in the Czech Republic.
