Prague’s New Metro Stretch Gets Mobile & Internet Coverage

UPDATED: Prague Public Transit company has confirmed that mobile phone and internet service is slated to begin by the end of this year (2017) after signing a contract with mobile operators last week. Pilot mobile and internet service would run from Muzeum to Roztyly on the C line, and following that could see expansion to the entire metro system.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Prague’s Metro A line would be getting mobile coverage through its four new stations from Bořislavka to Motol as part of a pilot program.

Work on installing the wiring for the project has taken place since the new stations were opened to the public earlier this year.

From today, passengers can enjoy uninterrupted mobile & internet coverage, which has now been launched through the four stations.

If the pilot program is successful, mobile & internet coverage is expected to be rolled out through the rest of the city’s metro network.

Operators already have an agreement for coverage on the red C line between Muzeum and Roztyly.

Losing your calls while travelling via metro in Prague should soon become a thing of the past.

Within the next few years, you may be able to browse the net while travelling through the city’s underground.
