Get ready for a hilarious night of holiday cheer at the Xmas Musical Improv Spectacular. On Dec. 20 join performers Sinead Phelps and Marc Cram at Divadlo Na Pradle, for an all-request show featuring made-up-on-the-spot Christmas carols and surprise musical guests. Expect jazz, improvisation, and a whole lot of festive fun. Tickets are 250 CZK.

Celebrate Czech choral tradition with A Thousand Voices of Advent at Prague’s Municipal House on Sunday, Dec. 22, marking the Year of Czech Music and Bedřich Smetana’s 200th anniversary. Featuring 1,000 singers from amateur choirs nationwide, enjoy works by Smetana, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and more. 

Shop last-minute and low-key

On Dec. 21 Acid Coffee will host a Christmas market until 8 p.m. followed by an after-party with DJ Primitivo until 10 p.m. Discover 14 unique vendors offering sustainable fashion, handcrafted jewelry, eco-cosmetics, and artisanal woodwork. Sip coffee, shop locally, and enjoy the holiday vibes at this creative Prague hotspot.

Experience immersive art

Dive into Hear/See, an immersive blend of art and music celebrating the Year of Czech Music 2024. Curated by the Czech Philharmonic and Rudolfinum Gallery with a little Lunchmeat Festival magic, this exhibition showcases bold works by rising stars in audiovisual art. At Galerie Rudolfinum through Jan. 12.

Experience Mozart’s legacy at the recently opened and expansive Mozart Interactive Museum in Prague. Visitors can hear Don Giovanni, which premiered in the city, and play the harpsichord with guidance from a 3D projection of Mozart’s father, Leopold. A VR room offers a unique chance to compose Mozart’s iconic works using immersive headsets, blending history with technology in a family-friendly museum for fans of classical music.

The Spiritual Prague exhibition at Hybernia Theater immerses visitors in Prague’s history through stunning animations, effects, and historical artifacts. Directed by Maria Krajplová, it explores key events like medieval floods, the plague, and the Thirty Years’ War, blending Christian symbolism and modern technology. The exhibition is enhanced by sensory effects and includes a rooftop tour offering spectacular views of Prague. Runs through the end of January.

Enjoy some holiday spirit(s)

Cozy Cinéma Přítomnost which boasts tables instead of cinema seating and a fully-stocked bar, is screening Love Actually and Wicked this weekend as well as Waves, which was shortlisted for an Oscar earlier this week. Order a bottle of wine or cocktails throughout the screening via the 'silent menu'.

You can also drink and eat your way through Czech classic Pelišky at Manifesto Market (dinner, barbecue and hot drinks), or head to Kino Kavalirka for a booze-filled double billing of Home Alone and Die Hard as part of its American Winter.

Take the family

A new interpretation of the Nutcracker will be staged at ARCHA+ throughout each Advent weekend. After sold-out performances last year, choreographer Jana Burkiewiczová’s innovative interpretation brings the classic story to life with breathtaking choreography, moving 3D effects, and a live orchestra. The final performance is on Dec. 27.

These festive strolls through Prague’s historic streets, started in November with the Christmas tree lighting at Mariánské náměstí.
