People strolling around the center of Prague on recent evenings may have seen something a bit out of the ordinary. Colored lights and mist adorned some landmarks, as a promotion for a Netflix series.
The promotion should continue tonight, with effects on the Powder Tower by náměstí Republiky, Old Town Hall at Old Town Square, and the Novomlýnská Water Tower, just behind Revoluční Street on Nové mlýny.
The promotion began Sunday, with effects on the tower at the Malá Strana side of Charles Bridge and continued Monday at the tower at the Old Town side of the bridge.
It is for the Netflix series “Arcane” series, which became available for streaming worldwide on Sunday. Buildings have been lit worldwide to promote the series. Images from the series were projected last week on Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. Other promotions and games were announced in a press release.
There is also new mural on the side of a building in Prague, near O2 Arena. It is part of a game, where people can win prizes by posting selfies with the image in the background to social media.
The main prize is one of 25 invitations to a secret party with game character Jinx. More clues to solving the game are on Facebook and Instagram. But people have to hurry as winners will be picked on Nov. 11.

The animated series “Arcane” is based on the videogame League of Legends by Riot Games. It is set in the past and explains the origins of several game characters. The series is already the second-most popular title in the Czech market on Netflix, following the romantic comedy “Love Hard.”
The multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends was released in 2009 and is free to play though players can make online purchases to customize characters. The game has been very popular, and has spawned spinoffs and collectible times. A 2019 competition had over 100 million unique viewers.
