Don't be alarmed if you hear numerous gunshots on Tuesday evening in the area of Prague's Old Town district: the firepower will be part of a sound test for production on a new film project.
According to Prague City Hall, filmmakers will test various types of firearms at Jan Palach Square by Prague's Rudolfinum building on Tuesday night between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.
The gunshots will not be part of filming, but rather a sound test for an upcoming shoot set to take place in the spring and summer of 2021.
The project was identified as "TGM", potentially a new movie about first Czechoslovak president Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk, but further information was not revealed.
On Tuesday night, weaponry from pistols to submachine guns will be tested outside Prague's Rudolfinum. Instead of live ammunition, blank rounds will be used.
The purpose of the test is to determine acceptable noise levels and the types of weapons that will be able to be fired at the location ahead of next year's production.
The noise test has been arranged in cooperation with the city of Prague 1 and Prague's integrated emergency services.
"In case of any questions, you can contact the relevant staff directly at the e-mail address: mereni@filmpraha.cz," Richard Bureš, Prague 1's councilor for transport, stated in a press release.
