New survey ranks Czech hospitals countrywide: how did Prague facilities stack up?

A new survey has ranked each of the hospitals in the Czech Republic.

Nemocnice ČR 2020 (Hospital of the Czech Republic 2020) evaluated hospitals based on a range of factors including safety, patient satisfaction, and the financial position of the hospital.

České Budějovice Hospital was voted as the overall winner, with Strakonice, Písek, Military Hospital Olomouc, and Trauma Hospital of Brno voted in the top five in the survey conducted by HealthCare Institute.

The rankings take place every year with evaluation of the hospitals occurring between February and August of 2020.

Chairman of the Board of winning Hospital of České Budějovice, Michal Šnorek, said:

“On the contrary, we will continue to do everything we can to ensure that our patients receive safe and high-quality healthcare, that our staff are kind and that the hospital environment is as pleasant as possible. Employee satisfaction is a necessary starting point for patient satisfaction," he added.

Military University Hospital Prague and University Hospital Ostrava ranked in the top two for hospitalized patient satisfaction amongst university hospitals, while Domažlice Hospital, Blansko Hospital and Rokycanská Hospital, were top ranked for non-university facilities in that category.

Nemocnice Plzeňského which runs several hospitals across the Plzen region was voted as the best for online communication.

Head of regional hospitals Marek Kýhos said:

Health Insurance companies in the Czech Republic were also ranked, with General Health Insurance Company of the Czech Republic winning the majority of the categories, although Škoda employee insurance company was voted the best by outpatient doctors.
