For anyone looking to leave the mean streets of Prague behind for a suburban idyll, a handy new tool will help you determine the best place for you.

Launched in partnership with Deloitte and Skupina CEZ, the  Obec v Datech (Municipalities In Data) portal lets visitors rank the importance of various factors – size, schools, healthcare, housing, availability of jobs – to generate a list of results that fit their requirements.

The site has also compiled a useful Quality of Life Index revealing the top cities among 206 municipalities in the Czech Republic based on factors such as health and environment, materials security and education, and relationships and services.

Is There Life Beyond Prague?

The highest quality of life is in the Central Bohemian town of Říčany, with a population of almost 18,000; the lowest in Silesian Orlová. Prague was ranked second for overall quality of life. At the opposite end of the ranking, there are cities in the Moravian-Silesian and Ústí regions.

For each village, the data was broken down into a variety of different indices to compare things like availability of pharmacies, ATM machines, and supermarkets as well as more vital factors like the capacity of kindergartens and quality of primary schools, safety, transport, and employment opportunities.

A population index calculates the number of immigrants and births.

Though currently in the development phase, the portal is also planning to add a section where inhabitants can weigh in on the experience of living in a particular place.
