Bucharest, Oct 6 (CTK) - Romania will list the Czech Republic and Slovakia in its list of risky countries in terms of COVID-19 spread as of Wednesday, which means that people arriving from these states will be sent to a two-week quarantine, the news server Digi24 has reported.

The restrictions will also apply to more than 40 other countries and regions.

The Romanian Crisis Staff decided to extend the list of the coronavirus risk countries on Monday evening. Health Minister Nelu Tataru announced that the countries where the epidemiological situation had worsened have been put on the list.

Along with Czechia and Slovakia, Bucharest has listed France, Spain, the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary, and Belgium on its list of risk areas. Britain and the USA, among non-EU countries, have also been added.

After their arrival in Romania, people from these countries must start a two-week quarantine that can be ended earlier if they test negative after the eighth day.

An exemption from this requirement applies to those who want to stay for less than three days in Romania. They must present a negative coronavirus test no older than 48 hours upon entry, but do not need to quarantine.

In Romania as well as other European countries, the number of the COVID-19 infected has been rising in the past days. In Romania, with a population of 19.3 million, 137,491 people have got infected so far, 5,048 of whom have died.
