Sensa is a rare find in Prague, an inviting modern bistro in the heart of the city center that represents a new frontier of dining in Czechia: fusion cuisine in smart yet casual surroundings delivered with impeccable service.

The menu takes inspiration from around the globe, with dishes drawing on Asian, Mediterranean, and Middle Eastern influences.

We opened Sensa at the end of 2021 because we were missing a place in the heart of Prague that would offer diverse cuisine, attentive service, and a casual atmosphere.

From crispy spring rolls served with plum sauce or signature grilled octopus to pistachio tiramisu, the diverse plates that emerge from Sensa’s kitchen share a common theme: vibrant colors, tantalizing textures, and bold flavors.

The octopus, for instance, balances tenderness with smoky flavors while the pistachio tiramisu offers a nutty twist on the classic dessert. Shared dining is one of the hallmarks of the Sensa experience. A meal of appetizers is encouraged, with small plates of dim sum or bao buns presenting the perfect opportunity for digging in on a date.

Main courses are dominated by fish, seafood, and steaks from the grill. While the premium beef travels to the plate from Argentina, the fish often comes from aquaponic farms.

The stunning interior is another reason to visit – the space was created by renowned architects from the ZOAA studio who took inspiration from the cuisine itself. Earthy tones such as brown and green appear throughout with elements of a French bistro in the open kitchen area, an original backlit wall with bottles, and a massive wooden table in the basement evoking the atmosphere of the Italian winery. Elements of Asian design appear in the front of the bistro.

When the weather permits, the outdoor atrium beckons, offering a delightful setting to dine al fresco or enjoy a selection from the list of Bohemian and Moravian wines, or one of Sensa’s unique handcrafted cocktails (try the Sparkling Tree, made with extra brut Prosecco, vodka, and infused with cardamom and mustard puree).

With its all-occasion appeal, Sensa makes great sense for a special night out or a business or casual lunch; daily lunch specials are on offer as well as fixed items like salads, noodles, and grilled fare. The bistro also does breakfast from decadent eggs benedict to a simple buffet with prosecco, cold cuts, and Danish puffs.

As many Asian dishes are naturally lactose- and gluten-free as well as vegetarian, diners with dietary needs can enjoy a wide selection without having to compromise on the quality of the food.

Now open in Prague for two years, Sensa is an inviting culinary venture that continues to innovate.
