The fourth edition of the SIGNAL festival of lights will be held in Prague from Thursday to Sunday, October 13 to 16. Viewers will be treated to twenty installations, including popular video mapping plus some special interactive events (hint: 3D glasses required).

What’s new at the festival this year? A daily program designed especially for children has been added to the line-up as well as a specially-built dome that brings the festival into the daylight hours for the first time ever.

Organizers note that entries from eleven international artists are certain to make this SIGNAL festival one of the most diverse and impressive yet.

In its third year of existence, SIGNAL has become one of the most highly anticipated cultural events in the Czech Republic. Last year the number of visitors climbed to 400,000.

The upcoming festival will see the debut of an installation by Japanese artist Yasuhiro Chido, where visitors will experience the “rare mountain phantom effect which occurs in very high mountains,” from October 6 in front of the Palladium; French artist Maotika will present a virtual firefly-catching installation among many other interactive experiences.

The SIGNAL dome is open throughout the four days of the festival from 9:30 to 18:00 and will feature animated projections related to the reign of Charles IV as told through eyes of a little boy who embarks on a walk around Prague with the beloved monarch.
