As the weather heats up and venues come alive, Czechia’s vibrant music scene is gearing up once again for another season of hot musical acts and electrifying live performances.

Known for its rich tradition in classical and contemporary music, the country will host a range of concerts that highlight its diverse musical culture. From iconic concert halls to outdoor festivals, there’s something for every kind of music fan this spring.

HOT HEADLINERS

This spring, O2 Arena is stacked with global superstars, promising big productions and buzz-worthy performances to Prague’s biggest stage.

Kicking things off with their return to Prague for the first time in six years, Twenty One Pilots bring their signature blend of alt-pop and high-energy showmanship to the O2 Arena on April 12 as part of The Clancy World Tour, supporting their latest album, Clancy.

With their signature folk-infused sound, beloved alt-folk duo The Lumineers take the stage to present Automatic, their new 11-track album recorded in under a month, exploring the uncertainty and fleeting nature of the world today. Catch this 24-time #1 hit band on April 24 at the O2 Arena.

Music’s greatest showman, Tyler, The Creator, brings his Chromakopia: The World Tour to the O2 Arena on May 9. With a sprawling 30-song setlist, he’ll take fans on a journey from his breakout album Goblin to his latest 2024 release, which lends its name to the tour. The LA-born, no-nonsense rapper and producer will be joined by Lil Yachty, promising an unmissable night of music.

Get your ear candy fix with three-time Grammy-winning pop powerhouse, Dua Lipa, who’s back on the road and making her Prague debut as part of her Radical Optimism Tour. Her two-night set on May 27 and 28 at the O2 Arena promises a get-up-and-dance experience, packed with chart-topping hits, high fashion, and an electrifying performance of her iconic track Dance the Night from Barbie.

Round spring out with a (head) banger—Iron Maiden celebrates their 50th anniversary with a return to Prague’s Letiště Letňany on May 31. With a discography spanning over 150 songs deep, the Run for Your Lives Tour explores the band’s past, present, and future with classics and fan favorites.

ESSENTIAL INDIE

Nothing screams spring quite like superchic French punk band, La Femme. Debuting their first English album, Rock Machine, at ARCHA+ on April 22, they’re set to bring their unique blend of punk energy and French flair to the stage.

Off the heels of their third album release, indie rockers Inhaler are making waves across Europe with their Open Wide Tour. On April 28, the four-piece band brings their new sounds, inspired by their love of T.Rex, early MGMT, Prince, and Depeche Mode, to Prague's Lucerna Great Hall.

Reuniting following a 13-year hiatus, British band Ride come to Lucerna Music Bar on May 3 to promote their seventh album, Interplay, released in March 2024. The new work combines elements of their pioneering early shoegaze sounds with new experimentation.

The next day, catch feel-good indie staple Peach Pit at MeetFactory. Their highly anticipated fourth album, Magpie, is sonically versatile and lyrically comforting, setting the stage for a night of laid-back vibes and introspective moments perfect for spring

The Swell Season, consisting of Frames’ frontman Glen Hansard and Czech singer Markéta Irglová and named after humanist Czech writer Josef Skvorecky, play heartfelt harmonies and acoustic songcraft in Prague on May 21 at Forum Karlín and Brno on May 25 at Sono Centrum.

RHYTHM & FLOW

Head to Fléda in Brno on April 20 or Lucerna Music Bar on April 27 to see KRS-One’s Temple of Hip Hop Tour. A true pioneer of conscious rap, the Bronx-born icon brings his old-school flow, razor-sharp lyricism, and deep-rooted hip-hop philosophy to the stage.

Houston’s Don Toliver follows up with a fresh wave of trap-infused R&B, performing at the O2 Arena on May 18. This performance follows the release of his new album, HARDSTONE PSYCHO, which was released late last year. If you’re in need of some melodic sounds and hypnotic vibes, you won’t want to miss this multi-platinum artist live.

ROCK RIOT

Renowned for his hauntingly intense performances, Michael Gira—the mastermind behind Swans—joins longtime collaborator Kristof Hahn for a stripped-down set at Meetfactory on April 9. Expect deep, droning guitars and raw, evocative vocals in an intimate setting.

Blues-rock powerhouse Joe Bonamassa follows with a masterclass in guitar virtuosity at the O2 Arena on May 2. With decades of experience and a catalog packed with soul-stirring solos, Bonamassa’s show is a must for blues purists.

For something more theatrical, Grammy-winning Swedish metal act Ghost descends on Prague’s O2 Arena on May 11. Known for their occult-inspired imagery and anthemic heavy metal, the band blends eerie visuals with soaring choruses. Expect fan favorites like Mary on a Cross, which found viral success on TikTok, alongside their signature theatrical spectacle.

If punk is more your speed, spend April 1 with punk titans Descendents, Circle Jerks, and Negative Approach at Palác Akropolis. With high-speed riffs, relentless energy, and non-stop moshing, this is a night you won’t want to miss.

PLANET RAVE

UK grime legend, Dizzee Rascal, is taking over Roxy on May 1. Known for blending gritty rap with electronic beats, Dizzee’s live shows are a masterclass in crowd control, so expect infectious rhythms and an electric atmosphere as he delivers classics and fresh cuts from his catalog.

Before that, Sub Focus will transform Roxy into an electrifying playground for drum and bass lovers. With two chances to catch him (April 18 and 19), prepare for a night where the beats hit harder and the drops bring the crowd to life.

CLASSICAL AND JAZZ

Bringing jazzy New Orleans sounds to Prague on April 13, Hot 8 Brass Band showcases their unique blend of classic jazz with funk, rap, and hip-hop elements. Once sharing the stage with the likes of George Ezra and Mary J Blige, this eight-piece band will now headline their own at the Rock Café

If you’re a fan of Mickey 17, Parasite, or Squid Game, acclaimed composer Jung Jaeil joins the Czech National Symphony Orchestra for a live performance of the Squid Game soundtrack at Spirála on April 19.

Celebrating International Jazz Day, the Mladí ladí jazz Open Air festival returns to Prague's Karlovo náměstí on April 30. This free event features performances by Berlin-based nu-jazz collective Jazzanova, Belgian free jazz trio Don Kapot, and German fusion ensemble Searching for Home.

As violinists go, David Garrett is at the top of his class. Playing since he was four years old, Garrett continues his career at Prague’s O2 Arena on May 3 with his Millennium Symphony Tour—a must-see even for both classical and contemporary music lovers.

FESTIVALS & MARKETS

It’s a big year for the Holešovice Market, which celebrates 130 years this year. Not only will there be pop-ups, tastings, and exhibitions to mark the milestone, but they’re also hosting a Music Spring throughout April and May. The genre-varied lineup, which consists of WWW NUEROBEAT, indie duo Republic of Two, and Ida The Young, to name a few, connects the contemporary Czech music scene to the market’s historical space.

The Prague Spring International Music Festival is scheduled for May 12–June 3. Across the city, you’ll find free and ticketed events featuring world-class performers. Highlights include the opening concert by the Czech Philharmonic, a tribute to Bedřich Smetana, and performances by the Boston Symphony Orchestra and NHK Symphony Orchestra.

Since 1999, Prague’s Khamoro Festival has celebrated Romani culture with a vibrant mix of music, film, dance, and debate. Running from May 25–31, this year’s edition features supergroups like Mahala Rai Banda and Kočani Orkestar, alongside a jubilant parade that will bring energy to the city streets.
