Exhibition opening: History of the Bunkr Club

A unique collection of photographs, documentaries, and works of art from the archive of Richard Němčok, the founder of the legendary Prague music club Bunker, captures the cultural ferment of the early 1990s. The exhibition is presented in cooperation with the Museum and the Archive of Popular Music.

Strings of Autumn
October 15-November 13, multiple venues

Since its inception in 1996, Strings of Autumn has established itself as one of the Czech Republic’s major music festivals, with an eclectic program of early and contemporary classical to jazz, hip-hop, and electronica. Kicking off this year’s festival, Laura Mvula, whose style mixes elements of soul, jazz, and R&B into a fiery 21st-century brew, performs at Forum Karlín; the festival ends with De La Soul. Action Fest
October 16-October 18, Kino Aero

Seven action films in three days, including gems of the American, European, and Asian genre. Look forward to the classics and heroes of the VHS era: Jean-Paul Belmondo, Jackie Chan, Michelle Yeoh, Cynthia Rothrock, and Antonio Banderas. The event will be opened by the premiere of the Czech action short film The First Action Hero, starring Jiří Mádl. Read more.

Exhibit Opening: Amnesia
October 16, Municipal House

Jiří Sozanský’s AMNESIA project aims to commemorate selected cultural figures through art. In addition to producing unarguably high-quality works of art, tried and tested by time, their works also shows the courage with which they faced two destructive totalitarian regimes in the 20th century. Selected figures symbolically represent a large group of those who shared a similar fate: Josef Čapek, Emil Filla, Milada Horáková, Jan Zajíc, Jan Palach, and Václav Havel. Read more.

Oct 17, Holešovice Exhibition Grounds

Traditionally featuring designers and producers from all over Europe, presenting novelties of prestigious brands and prototypes of young designers and design studios, this year the festival hosts more than 200 exhibitors in addition to holding events in galleries, showrooms, and pop-up shops across Prague. Bollywood film festival
October 17, Kino Světozor

Presenting Bollywood’s best films to a Czech audience now since 2004, this highly anticipated annual event features screenings of more than a dozen films including the opening night film Kalanka, an extravagant Baroque historical fantasy.
